Romi Mikulinsky and Yanai Toister focus our attention on modern “ghosts” created by NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration). Like fabricated ghost photos that claimed the status of truth, the scientific photographs produced at NASA are nothing more than simulations, representations. However, unlike ghost photos, contemporary simulations speak a new language – the language of information. The language of information is heuristic, virtual, pervasive, dynamic, and unstable. Its characteristics further emphasize that both the photograph as an object and the photographed object are always already in the role of “stand-ins” for an elusive truth.
